March 5 – 22, 2014
March is Youth Art Month, and the Waimea Arts Council is exhibiting artwork by students grade 6-12 – public, private and home-schooled students from the North Kohala, South Kohala and Hamakua districts. The artwork will be on display at the Firehouse Gallery from March 5 through 22, 2014.
The public is invited to attend a reception and awards ceremony for the young artists and their families on Sunday, March 9 from 3 – 5 pm at the gallery. Cookies and refreshments will be served.
This exhibit was judged by Jonathan Rawle, who has taught at all grade levels on the mainland and in local schools in the South Kohala and Hamakua districts. Mr. Rawle is a professional photographer, lover of all the arts, and has introduced the visual arts as part of his curricula to students in every classroom during his many years as an educator. His aloha and dedication to children and their artistic and academic education makes him an excellent judge of promising young artists. Come visit and enjoy — these works are available for purchase, along with other examples of the talented artist members of the Firehouse Gallery!
