To commemorate the Kawaihae Canoe Club’s 50th anniversary, the Waimea Arts Council announces the Hoe Wa’a celebration at the Firehouse Gallery June 1st through the 26th. To honor the roots and connections between the gallery and Kawaihae Canoe Club, there will be a June exhibition and celebration. The Hoe Wa‘a show features Coach Manny Veincent’s collection of paddles, including one dating from the 1860s. There will also be photographs, scrapbooks, trophies, memorabilia, paddling related art and two Sunday afternoon “talk story” receptions on June 5th and 26th. Refreshments provided.
