The Waimea Arts Council’s current exhibit features works by the Big Island’s emerging and established artists. The “Portal” theme was designed to ignite creativity and encourage artists to explore new realms within their artistry and embark on a creative journey that extends beyond conventional horizons.
Embracing this theme pushed our artists to transcend the boundaries of their customary subjects and artistic styles. What does “Portal” truly signify? . Jurors Matt Harper and Wilfred Yamasawa looked for originality, creativity, technical skill, and how the artwork creatively explored the theme of “PORTAL.”
With the historic Firehouse Gallery as its backdrop, this event promises to be an artistic spectacle that transcends boundaries and welcomes new possibilities. We encourage you to see the show in person but we also invite you to view the online exhibition in advance here
Portal 2 exhibition runs from November 4 through December 31 2023. Gallery hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursdays through Sundays, and when the flags are waving.
