At the Firehouse Gallery in Waimea, located on Mamalahoa Highway at the Lindsey road intersection, The Waimea Arts Council will celebrate Horse Expo weekend by offering portrait sketches of horses, from photographs. The portraits are rendered in a single color, sepia, sienna or graphite pencil, on white paper, 11×15 inches.
Janice Gail, known for her portraits of children, adults and pets, has over 45 years experience that began before her move to Waimea 30 years ago; many residents and Island visitors have these and other examples of her art in their collections. A number of celebrities are included in that group.
Photos may be submitted in person at the Firehouse Gallery between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday 8/6/16, 12:00 noon until 3:00 on Sunday 8/7/16, or by email to janicegailart@gmail.com until 6:00 p.m. Sunday 8/7/16; the fee is $60.00 per animal at these times for this promotion only, payable to the Waimea Arts Council. Janice will donate a portion of her profits to the Equine Rescue Fund operated by the Hawaii Island Humane Society.
